Silver Punch Ladle goes home

Tuesday 19th August 2014

We are so thrilled that the owners of the Mill & Museum of Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, Somerset, have purchased our historic Silver Punch Ladle for their collection in their fascinating museum.  This 18th/Early 19th Century Punch Ladle is inscribed 'John Alexander to the Mayor & Corporation of Bishop Lydeard', see http://www.domani-devon.com/stock/sold/geo-ii-silver-punch-ladle-double-lipped-crimped , and will be a wonderful addition to their already extremely interesting collection.  We were so pleased to hand it over to Charlie Back, MBE, and his wife Yvonne, and to have the opportunity to visit their beauifully presented Mill & Museum of Rural Life http://www.bishopslydeardmill.co.uk/ .  The acquisition of this rare piece for their museum has opened up an exciting new avenue of research for Bishops Lydeard historian David Hinton and interested local residents, and we look forward to hearing that they have discovered the identity of John Alexander!  For a photograph of the handing over of the Ladle, see Domani's facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DomaniAntiques
