Early 19th Century Specimen Marble Table

A Fine Early 19th Century Specimen Marble top Table of stunning quality, radially inlaid with English marble on slate and raised, interestingly, on a finely carved Goncalo Alves wood Base with scrolling acanthus, lotus leaves and lion claw feet.  Goncalo Alves is an exotic timber similar to Rosewood but with subtle differences as can be seen in close-up photo no.4, showing how the dark streaks in the grain are straighter and tighter than Rosewood, which explains why this timber is sometimes referred to as Tigerwood
