Fine & Rare Queen Anne Bachelor's Chest

A Fine & Rare Queen Anne Bachelor's Dressing Chest, the foldover top supported on hinged gates with baluster turnings, the end cupboards flanking a central bank of drawers.  Most unusually, veneered in Amboyna (pterocarpus indicum), a wood indigenous to the Dutch East Indies, which might indicate an Anglo Dutch origin.  Whilst the general design of the chest conforms to an English design, certain constructional details and the use of amboyna sourced from the Far East may infer Dutch workmanship.  Adam Bowett's "Early Georgian Furniture" illustrates a japanned dressing table of identical form (Plate 3:23, p.106), dated 1700 [see final photo].
