Geo III Mahogany Tambour Cylinder Rolltop Desk
Geo III Mahogany Hepplewhite period Tambour Cylinder or Rolltop Writing Desk with fitted interior of pigeon holes & short drawers, single long drawer below with original brasses, on square taper legs to block feet with original sunk castors. Circa 1785. This Desk is a beautiful example of its kind, and somewhat rare, being free standing and having a full cylinder tambour. NB: a more sophisticated design in satinwood for this table exists in a Gillows Design of c.1790 (Gillow Furniture Design 1760-1800, Lyndsay Boynton)
