NOTE Goncalo Alves or Albuera wood was favoured by the firm of Gillows, first as a banding and later as a principal wood. It was imported from the Portuguese colony of Brazil. Interestingly, this serving table in beautiful West Indian Satinwood appears to have acquired the single long drawer as an afterthought during construction, the framework being extended before veneering
