Superb Regency Breakfront Secretaire Bookcase

A Superb Regency Mahogany and Ebony inlaid Breakfront Secretaire Bookcase attributable to George Oakley, with Satinwood interior and easel writing slope, Gothic glazing bars with Pearwood acorns, and fitted banks of drawers to each flanking cupboard.  Reflecting the fashionable Egyptian taste resulting from the Battle of the Nile victory by Nelson, this bookcase combines the compact proportion of a Sheraton bookcase with the classical Regency ebony detail, very much in the manner of George Oakley.  Circa 1805.
