Geo II Oak Press Cupboard

Geo II Oak Press Cupboard of superb quality, with fielded panel doors crossbanded in mahogany with a chequer line, the drawers featherbanded and with fruitwood cockbeading, the cornice, waist & base moulding superbly carved, probably en suite with interior woodwork at houses such as Mawley Hall & Davenport Hall. This Press also has a Shropshire provenance, perhaps indicating a local centre of carving excellence in the 2nd quarter of the 18th Century.  Originally shelved, now with hanging rail.  Original handles, later escutcheons (on drawers) and feet.  Circa 1740.  More photos available on request
